Shane Proctor
Shane Proctor has been involved in the rodeo business since birth. He started riding sheep at the age of 3 and competed in Jr rodeos until he received his first amateur pro rodeo card at the age of 12. He competed in breakaway roping, traveling with his father and older sister who were also competing. At the age of 15, he started competing in bull riding and won the year-end All Around in the Prowest Rodeo Association and Northwest Professional Association before he turned 18. He graduated to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association at the age of 19.
He spent two years rodeoing for Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, qualifying for the college finals twice in saddle bronc riding, once in bareback riding, bull riding, and calf roping. During his junior year at Montana State University, he made his debut in the elite Professional Bull Riders (PBR) series and qualified for the PBR finals nine times.
In 2010, he decided to compete in both the PBR and the highest level of rodeo in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, qualifying for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas six times. He qualified for both PBR and NFR finals in the same year four times and got on over 220 bulls per year while also competing in the saddle bronc riding. This led him to qualify for All-Around in the PRCA, winning 2nd and 3rd place.
In 2011, he won the PRCA World Champion Bull Rider Title and the NFR bull riding average title in 2016. At the age of 36, he qualified for his sixth NFR in 2021. He still competes today and, when he is at home, he enjoys working horses with his wife, a 4x PRCA specialty act top 5 finalist, training roping horses, doing leatherwork, and raising their 3-year-old daughter.
